Master of Soul, Charles Bradley has sadly passed away from cancer at 68. In his brief professional career, Mr. Bradley laid down some of the heaviest classic soul and funk tracks anyone has heard in over 40 years. Although he may not have been an established act during the genres heyday of the 60’s and 70’s, Charles Bradley has more than made up for it with the performances and recordings he’s given us throughout the past decade. Having lived the majority of his life in relative obscurity, when finally given the chance to shine in 2011, he brought more passion and energy to the music than most people half his age could only dream of.

Go now, and listen to his 2016 recording of “Ain’t It a Sin”, and just try to ignore that voice—those screams, those grooves, those hand claps—no one can resist. As Mr. Bradley himself says on that track; he tried “to be a righteous man…”, judging from the legacy he has left behind, I’d say he has more than succeeded. Thank you Charles, for re-igniting the flames of the funk. You sir, will be greatly missed…
